I've started my first novel, and I'm quite proud of it so far. I'm pleased because it's a very original work, although in the style of LotR and yes, a Fantasy in that vein. That being said, I've gone against some stereotypical things so far character wise (eg. warrior elf) so it should be interesting. Can't give too mcuh away yet, so just wish me luck. :3

I can explain it, but I don't know if I should post extracts. You see, that could cause problems when time to publish rolls around. But yes, I'll certainly give progress and tell people about it.

Well, original enough for a fantasy. One of the characters in going to be a junkie, and they'll have no quams killing people for the cause. Well, one might but we'll see how he goes with it. :P

Have you written a rough outline of the novel? You're mighty brave to be going for this, but all the same, before you go any further in your writing, you may want to take a week or so just detailing an outline so you have all your ideas laid out (making character bios wouldn't be a bad idea either). I know it may seem like you have the idea totally laid out in your head, but sometimes, without it in writing, you may find yourself wading through more problems than you would have wanted to in your first revision.

Otherwise, good luck. I hope you go the distance and receive the proper rewards at the end.

Cheers. Yes, I've got stuff. I've even gone as far to have a map made so that the world is set in regards to direction and topography. I'd rather not get confused :P

Mmm, maybe, but finding one yourself is easier. Do what I did - find any decent non-dance song and try to imagine ANYTHING. Then crap on for 4000 words. ;)

Also, Warrior elf is Warrior as Naga woman is the mage. Besides, how many warrior elves are there? Few. Thus, I can create unique heritage conflict. Yay.
